About Marsh mallow

Marshmallow is a soft, spongy confection made primarily from sugar, water, and gelatin, sometimes flavored with vanilla or other extracts. Its origins trace back to ancient Egypt, where sap from the marshmallow plant was mixed with honey as a sweet treat. Modern marshmallows no longer contain the plant extract but are widely popular in desserts, beverages, and as a campfire staple. While marshmallows are fat-free and low in calories per piece, they are high in sugar and offer little nutritional value, making them best enjoyed in moderation. They're common in American cuisine, especially in s'mores, hot chocolate toppings, and holiday dishes like sweet potato casseroles.
