Ingredients

  • 1 lb Chicken breast
  • 0.5 cup Cornstarch
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp Ginger
  • 0.25 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 2 tbsp Hoisin sauce
  • 3 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha
  • 2 stalks Green onions
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and pat dry with a paper towel.

Step 2

Place the cornstarch in a bowl and toss the chicken pieces until evenly coated. Shake off excess cornstarch and set aside.

Step 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Step 4

Fry the chicken pieces in batches for 3-4 minutes each, until golden and cooked through. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Step 5

In a separate small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, water, hoisin sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, and sriracha. Set aside.

Step 6

In the same skillet or wok, remove excess oil, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Heat the skillet over medium heat.

Step 7

Finely mince the garlic and ginger. Add them to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 8

Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and bring it to a simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.

Step 9

Add the fried chicken back to the skillet and toss to coat it evenly in the sauce.

Step 10

Chop the green onions into small pieces and sprinkle them over the chicken along with the sesame seeds.

Step 11

Serve hot with steamed rice and enjoy!
