Ingredients

  • 250 grams Halloumi cheese
  • 1 medium Red chili pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 small Lemon
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Honey
  • 1 pinch Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Slice the halloumi into 1 cm (about 1/3 inch) thick slices and set aside.

Step 2

Finely chop the red chili pepper, removing the seeds if you prefer a milder heat.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix the juice of the lemon with the honey and a pinch of black pepper. Set this dressing aside.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.

Step 5

Once the oil is hot, add the halloumi slices in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside on a plate.

Step 6

In the same pan (add a bit more olive oil if needed), sauté the finely chopped chili pepper for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 7

Return the cooked halloumi slices to the pan and drizzle the lemon-honey dressing over the top. Toss gently to coat the halloumi in the glaze.

Step 8

Remove from heat, transfer to a serving platter, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Step 9

Serve warm as a starter, side dish, or part of a mezze spread.
