Ingredients

  • 3 large Sweet potatoes
  • 1 stick Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Light brown sugar
  • 0.75 cup Evaporated milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 9-inch Pre-made pie crust

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

Rinse and peel the sweet potatoes. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add the sweet potatoes, and cook until they are fork-tender, about 20 minutes.

Step 3

Drain the sweet potatoes and let them cool slightly. Transfer them to a large mixing bowl and mash them until smooth using a potato masher or hand mixer.

Step 4

Add the stick of unsalted butter to the warm sweet potatoes. Let it melt slightly, then mix until fully combined.

Step 5

Stir in the granulated sugar and light brown sugar. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Step 6

Add the evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the sweet potato mixture. Beat well until the filling is smooth and creamy.

Step 7

Place the pre-made pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan or dish, crimping the edges if desired.

Step 8

Pour the sweet potato filling into the pie crust, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Step 9

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly jiggly in the center. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.

Step 10

Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack. Allowing it to cool will help the filling set properly.

Step 11

Serve slices of the sweet potato pie as-is or topped with a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy the rich, comforting flavors of this cherished recipe!
