Ingredients

  • 300 grams Spaghetti
  • 2 cups Marinara sauce
  • 250 grams Ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 4 Fresh basil leaves
  • 4 Hoagie rolls or sandwich buns
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 4 Mozzarella cheese slices

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

While the spaghetti cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Mince the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Step 3

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 7-8 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper.

Step 4

Stir the marinara sauce into the skillet with the cooked beef. Let it simmer for 5 minutes, then add the drained spaghetti and toss to combine. Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves, tearing them into smaller pieces as you stir. Remove from heat.

Step 5

Slice the hoagie rolls or sandwich buns in half lengthwise. Lightly butter the cut sides and toast in a hot skillet or under a broiler until golden brown.

Step 6

Place a slice of mozzarella cheese on the bottom half of each toasted roll. Spoon a generous portion of the spaghetti mixture on top of the cheese.

Step 7

Close the sandwich with the top half of the roll. For extra melty cheese, place the assembled sandwiches back in a warm oven for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Step 8

Serve hot, optionally garnished with additional Parmesan cheese or basil leaves. Enjoy these carb-loaded, comforting spaghetti sandwiches!
