Ingredients

  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 6 slices Thick-sliced bread (such as brioche or challah)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0 optional Maple syrup (for serving)
  • 0 optional Powdered sugar (for garnish)
  • 0 optional Fresh berries (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sugar, and salt until the mixture is smooth and well-blended.

Step 2

Preheat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.

Step 3

Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the skillet, spreading it evenly across the surface.

Step 4

Dip one slice of bread at a time into the egg mixture, allowing each slice to soak for a few seconds on each side. Make sure the bread is fully coated but not overly saturated.

Step 5

Carefully place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook in batches if necessary.

Step 6

Cook each slice for about 2-3 minutes on one side, or until golden brown. Flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side until golden and cooked through.

Step 7

Repeat with the remaining bread slices, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.

Step 8

Serve the French toast warm with a drizzle of maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, and fresh berries if desired.
