Ingredients

  • 8 oz Cream cheese
  • 6 oz Crab meat (imitation or lump crab)
  • 1 tsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp Granulated garlic
  • 2 tbsp Scallions, finely chopped
  • 24 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 4 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 piece Egg, beaten (for sealing edges)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, crab meat, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, granulated garlic, and chopped scallions. Mix until everything is evenly incorporated.

Step 2

Place one wonton wrapper on a flat surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the crab mixture into the center of the wrapper.

Step 3

Brush the edges of the wonton wrapper with the beaten egg using a pastry brush.

Step 4

Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to create a triangle. Press the edges tightly to seal, ensuring no filling leaks out. For an optional decorative touch, gather and pinch the corners into a bundle.

Step 5

Repeat with the remaining wonton wrappers and crab mixture until all are filled and sealed.

Step 6

In a deep skillet or heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a kitchen thermometer to monitor the temperature.

Step 7

Carefully fry the Crab Rangoon in small batches (about 4-5 at a time) for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Step 8

Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried rangoons to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 9

Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet and sour sauce or plum sauce.
