In a small bowl, combine the bread crumbs and milk. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes, allowing the crumbs to absorb the milk.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until soft and translucent. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, soaked bread crumbs, sautéed onion, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.
Using your hands, shape the mixture into small, 1-inch meatballs and set them aside on a plate.
In the same skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Cook the meatballs in batches, turning frequently, until browned on all sides. Transfer the browned meatballs to a plate and set aside. (They don’t need to be cooked through yet as they will finish cooking in the sauce.)
Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the flour to the skillet. Whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom of the pan, to create a roux.
Gradually add the beef broth to the skillet while whisking, ensuring there are no lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the heavy cream and return the meatballs to the skillet. Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for 10-15 minutes or until fully cooked and the sauce has thickened to your liking.
Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper, if needed.
Transfer the Swedish meatballs to a serving dish, spoon the creamy sauce over them, and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve warm, ideally with mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
