Ingredients

  • 250 grams Ground lean chicken breast
  • 150 grams Shrimp, peeled, deveined, and finely chopped
  • 1 unit Egg white
  • 2 tablespoons Low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 50 grams Water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Green onion, finely chopped
  • 0.25 teaspoon White pepper
  • 20 units Siumai (wonton) wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons Carrot, finely grated for garnish

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped shrimp, egg white, soy sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch.

Step 2

Add the chopped water chestnuts, grated ginger, chopped green onion, and white pepper to the mixture. Mix everything thoroughly until evenly combined.

Step 3

Place a siumai wrapper in your palm and add about 1 tablespoon of the filling to the center.

Step 4

Gently gather the edges of the wrapper, pleating them around the filling while leaving the top open. Press the dumpling slightly to form a flat base.

Step 5

Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 6

Lightly grease a steamer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Arrange the siumai in the steamer basket, leaving space between each dumpling to ensure even cooking.

Step 8

Garnish each dumpling with a small pinch of grated carrot on top for a pop of color.

Step 9

Bring a pot of water to a gentle simmer and place the steamer basket over the pot.

Step 10

Cover and steam the siumai for 12-15 minutes, or until the filling is fully cooked and firm to the touch.

Step 11

Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the siumai with your favorite dipping sauce.
