Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 cups cubed day-old bread
  • 0.25 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon butter, to grease pan

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish with butter and set aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage, breaking it into small crumbles, until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat and set the sausage aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.

Step 4

Add the shredded cheddar cheese, cooked sausage, cubed bread, and green onions to the bowl with the egg mixture. Stir gently until everything is evenly coated and combined.

Step 5

Pour the mixture into the prepared casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 6

Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Step 7

After 30 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set in the center.

Step 8

Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing into portions and serving. Enjoy your delicious Judy's Breakfast Casserole!
