Ingredients

  • 4 pounds Pork spare ribs
  • 0.25 cups Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Cayenne pepper
  • 1.5 cups Barbecue sauce
  • 0.25 cups Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

Step 2

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for more tender meat. Use a paper towel to grip the membrane and pull it off.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, kosher salt, and cayenne pepper to create the dry rub.

Step 4

Rub the olive oil all over the ribs to help the dry rub adhere. Evenly coat both sides of the ribs with the dry rub mixture, ensuring complete coverage.

Step 5

Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil to lock in moisture and place them on a baking sheet.

Step 6

Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 3.5 to 4 hours, until they are fork-tender and the meat is pulling away from the bones.

Step 7

While the ribs are baking, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and honey. Stir and cook until the mixture is warmed through and slightly thickened.

Step 8

Once the ribs are done baking, heat a grill to medium-high (or preheat your broiler if grilling isn’t an option).

Step 9

Brush a generous layer of the barbecue glaze over the ribs and place them on the grill, bone side down. Cook for 5–10 minutes per side, flipping once, until the glaze caramelizes and develops a beautiful char.

Step 10

Remove the ribs from the grill, let them rest for a few minutes, then slice them between the bones and serve hot with additional barbecue sauce on the side.
