Ingredients

  • 4 cups Canned navy beans
  • 6 slices Thick-cut bacon
  • 1 medium (diced) Yellow onion
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 0.5 cup (packed) Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon (or to taste) Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Transfer the cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain, then crumble into small pieces. Reserve about 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease in the skillet.

Step 3

Add the diced onion to the skillet with the reserved bacon grease and sauté over medium heat until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to create a smooth sauce.

Step 5

Gently fold in the navy beans, cooked onions, and half of the crumbled bacon into the sauce until everything is coated evenly.

Step 6

Pour the bean mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining bacon crumbles on top.

Step 7

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Step 8

Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until the sauce is thickened and bubbly.

Step 9

Remove the baked beans from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
