Ingredients

  • 170 grams unsalted butter
  • 200 grams granulated sugar
  • 100 grams brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 120 grams all-purpose flour
  • 70 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 150 grams dark chocolate chunks or chips
  • 100 grams chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a 20x20 cm (8x8 inch) baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.

Step 2

Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat or in a microwave-safe bowl. Allow it to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk until smooth and creamy.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 6

Fold in the dark chocolate chunks or chips and chopped walnuts (if using). The batter will be thick.

Step 7

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly using a spatula.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 28-32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (do not overbake).

Step 9

Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Step 10

Once cooled, lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Slice into 12 squares and serve. Enjoy!
