Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Stir in the salt and vegetable oil, then gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
